On Monday, February 28, Governor J.B. Pritzker lifted the statewide indoor mask requirement. The Fox Valley Park District has followed and will continue to follow guidance from the State of Illinois and local government. Face masks will no longer be required in District facilities, but are strongly encouraged. We ask that everyone be respectful of one another’s decision regarding masking/non-masking.

On Thursday, August 26, Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health reinstated a statewide mask mandate. Masks are required indoors, regardless of COVID vaccination status, effective Monday, August 30. Safety has been and will continue to be one of our top priorities. We continue to follow guidelines from IDPH to develop procedures to ensure we can provide a fun and safe recreational experience.

AUGUST 10 UPDATE

On Tuesday, August 10, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced updates to their All Sports Policy. Participants in all youth indoor sports activities are required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. This does not currently apply to adult indoor sports, but it is recommended. Activities outdoors do not require masks, but it is encouraged to wear masks for any sport activities that involve close contact with other people who are not fully vaccinated. Open Gym – Mask required for all youth & high school participants and highly recommended for Adults.

Please note: Masks are required for all Creative Play & Nature Play preschool programs, camps and our upcoming before & after school program, BACC Pack.

We trust that individuals who are not fully vaccinated will continue to wear face masks in our facilities and while participating in programs. JUNE 11 UPDATE – SUMMER DAY CAMPS START JULY 6

We at the Fox Valley Park District believe that full day camps are essential to the community and therefore will be offering 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. day camp starting July 6 for those in need of childcare assistance.

Following guidelines set by the DCEO for Day Camps as part of the Restore IL Plan, American Academy for Pediatrics’ and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), we plan to execute day camp as safely as possible by keeping class sizes to 10 and under, keeping groups of kids in the same rooms with the same counselors when possible to limit exposure to others in the program, spacing out seats at meal times, and staggering group activities.

The Camp Committee is finalizing plans on how we plan to adjust daily operations of camp with these guidelines. By practicing proper sanitation, increased reinforcement of hand hygiene, health prescreening precautions, and distancing at high risk times such as eating and physical activity, we look forward to providing those in need with a summer tradition, regardless of modifications needed to safely return to the new normal.

  • Group Size: 10 campers, 2 counselors.
  • Enrollment Capacity: 50% or more reduction.
  • Restrictions: 6 feet of social distancing, static groups when possible.
  • Spaces: Allocated camp room, outdoor fields, open space and trails.
  • Activities: Indoor/Outdoor games, guest entertainment/entertainers, hikes, crafts and more!
  • Face Masks: Expected to be worn at all times indoors unless eating.
  • Field Trips: Off-site cancelled, in-house entertainment will be provided.
  • Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Per facility operations, curbside pick-up and drop-off provided to limit larger gatherings. Additional information per facility will be provided.
  • Food: Provided by campers and no sharing will be allowed.

Register for summer camps here!

JUNE 4 UPDATE – OUTDOOR WORKOUTS BEGIN JUNE 8

Press Release – June 4, 2020

Programs begin June 8 at Vaughan, Prisco and Eola centers

AURORA – In accordance with Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Restore Illinois approach to safely reopen the state, the Fox Valley Park District is set to begin offering in-person Fox Fitness programs, albeit with a new look and feel.

Beginning Monday, June 8, “Outdoor Workouts” will be held daily (weather permitting) at each of the District’s three fitness facilities – the Vaughan Athletic Center and Prisco and Eola community centers. These programs will be available to all current Fox Fitness members only.

“We realize the importance of offering fitness opportunities to our members, not only for their physical well-being, but also mental and emotional well-being,” said Brett Meier, general manager of Fox Fitness. “We wanted to be first out of the gate in offering fitness classes and opportunities to our community.”

With its members’ health and safety the top priority, Meier said, the District will continue to adhere to guidelines set forth by the Illinois Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity.

Pre-registration is required and workout offerings include:

  • Outdoor Group Exercise Classes at Vaughan, Prisco and Eola: Limited to 10 participants per class, members can partake in Group Ex classes ($5 per class) and Yoga ($6 per class). All participants must bring their own equipment for classes. For those in need of equipment – such as resistance bands or yoga mat, block and strap – kits for each class can be purchased online.
  • Outdoor Workouts at Vaughan: A $5 fee will allow members to work out for one hour with access to tires, sledgehammers, sled, plyometric boxes, rowing machines, battle ropes, punching bags and sandbags.
  • Personal Training at Vaughan and Eola (for current clients only): One-on-one, indoor personal training sessions will be limited to 30 minutes to allow for cleaning prior to the next appointment. Members must arrive in workout attire, for there will not be access to locker rooms or saunas. Face coverings will be required when within six feet of others and whenever members are not exercising.

“We’re excited to begin offering workout opportunities for our members during this first phase of reopening our fitness programs and facilities,” said Jaime Ijams, the FVPD’s director of recreation. “At the same time, our members’ well-being remains the focal point of everything we do and every decision we make. This format is obviously a new endeavor for both staff and members, so we’ll make any needed adjustments as we go.

“We’ll certainly continue to practice proper social distancing and sanitation, but it will be so refreshing to interact with each other in person again.”

In mid-March, FVPD officials closed all District facilities and suspended all Fox Fitness memberships and EFT billings, along with extending “paid in full” memberships. Ijams stressed that membership status will remain unchanged “until we reopen completely,” she said. “These new workout programs are a one-time cost per session, so members can rest assured that their membership accounts will remain suspended.”

Additionally, Outdoor Workouts will not take place during inclement weather. The District uses Rainout Line to announce event cancellations, which will be posted at least one hour prior to a class or session. Refunds will be automatically processed for any canceled workout as a credit on members’ household accounts and will be refunded to the original form of payment after 30 days if not used, Ijams said.

For more information or to register for upcoming classes, visit foxfitness.info/outdoor-workouts.

MAY 21 UPDATE – SUMMER CAMPS

The Fox Valley Park District, in accordance with the Restore Illinois plan, is currently examining how we can safely re-open our programs and facilities to best meet the community’s needs. This includes day camps, fitness, tennis and our summer camps. Unfortunately, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions regarding our regular summer camps.

Registration will remain closed for all summer programming and all previously scheduled one hour, half day, or specialty summer camps will be canceled. All participants registered for those camps will automatically be issued a full refund. In addition, all full-day camps through July 3 will also be canceled and fully refunded. Any participants registered in full-day camps beginning July 6 will remain enrolled at this time.

We are in the process of revising our traditional camp offerings to meet new IDPH and CDC guidelines. Plans include smaller group sizes, separate locations with no inter-camp group contact, increased sanitization procedures, face coverings, and social distancing. The tentative dates to launch this new camp offering are July 6-Aug. 7. This includes Summer Blast Camps at Eola, Prisco and Vaughan community centers, Red Oak camps, Camp Blackberry and Camp by the Lake.

Due to the need to keep camp groups separate and provide indoor shelter for each group, there will be a limited number of spaces available for additional registrations and some slightly reduced hours. We will communicate details as they are finalized within the next few weeks. Thank you in advance for your understanding, and we look forward to providing safe and healthy recreation for our community!

MAY 13 UPDATE – OUTDOOR AQUATICS CLOSED FOR THE 2020 SEASON

In the spirit of the community’s health, safety and well-being – our top priority – the Fox Valley Park District has made the difficult decision to close Splash Country Water Park and Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center for the entirety of the 2020 season.

All passes purchased will be automatically refunded to the original form of payment. If you purchased a season pass, you do not need to request a refund, though it may take up to 14 business days to receive your reimbursement.

In a normal season, the pools draw hundreds to thousands of visitors per day. Due to challenges of enforcing limited group gatherings, social distancing, surface sanitization, and to prevent further possibility of virus spread, we feel it’s our responsibility to close for the 2020 season.

Additionally, operating the pools during the pandemic presents several concerns among staff, including proper and adequate training for our lifeguards, staffing level adequacy and the extensive staff labor and personal protective equipment (PPE) required to continue preparing the pools, while adhering to proper social-distancing boundaries.

MAY 1 UPDATE – REGISTRATION SUSPENDED FOR ALL SUMMER PROGRAMS

Registration for all summer programs and activities is currently suspended until further notice. Originally scheduled to open for residents on May 9, District officials opted to delay registration during these times of uncertainty, and in accordance with Governor Pritzker’s extension of the statewide stay-at-home order, which is in effect through May 30.

In the meantime, we remain committed to delivering programs in an adjusted capacity, and have developed a Virtual Recreation Page which is filled with activities to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay engaged in recreation while at home. Consider adding a fun activity or two to your daily routine!

We’ll continue to communicate any updates as decisions are made, and we look forward to serving you in the near future.

APRIL 27 UPDATE – STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EXTENDED THROUGH MAY 30

In response to Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order issued April 23 to extend the statewide “stay at home” order through May 30, all Fox Valley Park District facilities, playgrounds, parks, athletic fields and courts, and park restrooms across the community are closed to the public through May 30.

Programs
This extension will impact the remainder of our Spring programs, leagues and events that had scheduled class dates in May and June. Park District staff are currently making adjustments to cancel programs and will be automatically processing refunds for the remainder of the Spring session. You do not need to request a refund. Please note: The refund process will take up to 14 business days to complete from the time participants receive notification of a program cancellation. Participants affected by class cancellations will receive notification from the Park District via email. We’ll continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate any further program or event cancellations to participants.

Fox Fitness, Aquatics, Tennis, Childcare and Locker Room Memberships
For current members, we’ll be extending all “paid in full” memberships – up to three months (depending on your expiration date) past your original end date – to cover the time the fitness centers are closed. If you were charged your regular membership fees on March 15, your membership dues were waived on April 15 and will be waived on May 15. Now, due to the second extended stay at home order through May 30, we’ll also be waiving your June 15 membership dues. Any memberships that had previously been suspended will continue to stay suspended until we have a reopen date. The facilities are tentatively scheduled to reopen in early June.

Events
All events that were scheduled to take place through May 30 are being refunded automatically at this time.

Rentals
All rentals scheduled to take place through May 30 have been canceled and are being refunded automatically at this time without any cancellation fees.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please feel free to contact us at fvpd@fvpd.net. There will not be staff on hand to answer phones during the “stay at home” mandate, but we’ll do our best to respond to emails as soon as possible.

Please note: The above-mentioned practices are being offered only during this special closure and are not our standard policies.

We value you as a customer and look forward to serving you again. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times, and we hope you and your family remain healthy.

Participants that paid in full have been refunded up through April 30 and those with monthly EFT payments will not be charged for their April and May preschool dues. APRIL 7 UPDATE

Alright friends…it’s time to help others ramp up their responsibility during this time of crisis. Lives are on the line. We’ve locked tennis courts. We’ve closed gates to popular parks. We’re adding barricades and signage. But PLEASE help us by simply staying away. We love that you love our parks. We get it. But we love you and our community more. If you can act responsibly, you’ll help untold numbers of people get through this…with the added bonus of helping yourself! We’re only as strong as our weakest link. If you see large groups, please call 911 for enforcement of the state’s order. Let’s do this!
