Friendly Center Club

150 W. Illinois Avenue, Aurora, Illinois ● 630-859-8606 ● Directions

Well beyond being a hot spot for inspiring senior programs and activities, Prisco Community Center is the home of the Friendly Center Club, an interactive group that meets on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each week, social seniors gather to talk, enjoy snacks, and play games. The club also hosts a monthly luncheon and features special entertainment such as singers and dancers. The club was founded in 1951 by John A. Lippold, who saw the need and opportunity for a way for like-minded senior adults to be connected and active. We hope that you’ll join us!

To find out more about Active Adults and the Friendly Center Club, please contact Jen Rackmyer at 630-859-8606 or jrackmyer@fvpd.net.

Maintaining good health and enjoying a balanced diet can be quite a task as we age. Nutrition plays a crucial role in the well-being of senior citizens. A well-rounded and rich diet ensures seniors have the essential nutrients for optimal bodily function. Moreover, healthy eating habits can significantly reduce the risk of age-related ailments like osteoporosis, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

To assist seniors and their families, Caring.com created a guide that explains what older people need to eat and how to overcome diet challenges. It gives meal planning advice and talks about food options in senior living. It also has tips on food safety and where seniors can find nutritious food. View the Nutrition Guide here.
