Welcome to the official home of the 2008 Mid-American Canoe & Kayak Race.
The 47th Annual Mid-American Canoe & Kayak Race sponsored by Fox Valley Park District will run on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, on the Fox River, 40 miles west of Chicago.
This is an amateur canoe race with divisions for contestants of all ages. The race begins at the VFW on Route 25 in Batavia, and runs 6 miles on the beautiful Fox River past scenic islands and wooded parks, ending just south of the Illinois Avenue bridge in Aurora.
Participants may compete in the racing hull division or in one of nine cruising hull divisions. There are also four kayak divisions —men's & women's short and long kayak.

Just Announced: Party In The Park
A tailgate-style party for all race participants, families, friends and spectators will follow near the finish area at McCullough Park. Burgers, hot dogs, brats and refreshments will be served with a Bags tournament, kids’ games and a beverage tent with big-screen TVs.
The contestants receive:

• Cue sheet and map with race and river information
This race is a cooperative volunteer Fox Valley community effort with more than 500 individuals donating their time and talents in race procedures, water and land safety, race communications and programming at the various cities by its groups and Park Districts.
