Volunteer Opportunities

Our Philosophy

At the Fox Valley Park District, we believe volunteerism is one of the highest forms of recreation. Community involvement is a vital key in staying active and making a difference in others’ lives. The District has an assortment of volunteer opportunities that can offer challenging and rewarding use of leisure time. Volunteer participation in the Fox Valley Park District instills a sense of ownership and responsibility.

Fox Valley Park District Mission

Enrich our community with fun, diverse and safe park and recreation experiences through environmentally and fiscally responsible actions.

Why Volunteer?

  • To continue learning and growing
  • To develop new interests and friendships
  • To share your time and talent with your community
  • To gain valuable work experience
  • To stay active
  • To have fun

Who Can Volunteer?

Volunteers must be 14 years of age to independently volunteer. Youths younger than age 14 may volunteer with a parent or legal guardian.

Your Role as a Volunteer

All Fox Valley Park District volunteers are representatives of the park district. All the representatives are courteous and helpful to guests and come to each event ready to be a part of a team and get the job done while having a good time.

Volunteer Application

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, the first step is to fill out a Volunteer Interest Form (PDF). Please call Debbie Smith, Community Outreach Manager, at (630) 859-8606 with questions, or click to e-mail Debbie Smith.

What is the Time Volunteer Time Commitment?

This is up to each individual. Some volunteers may wish to volunteer in the same capacity on a regular basis for a period of time, such as one day a week. Others may find that volunteering for special events fits better with their schedule. When you volunteer for a special event, your volunteer status is your ticket to the event. Many people choose to volunteer to an annual event year after year.

Spring Spruce-Up was a success!

Last April, several scout groups, church groups, students, friends and families attended our first-ever Spring Spruce-up. Volunteers helped by picking up litter and more at several park locations throughout the district. It was a great opportunity to celebrate Earth Week!
